12/04/09 - National / International




This CNN story follows Will McClain, a recent high school graduate from a small town in California, as he enlists in the U.S. Army.   I thought Will's story was interesting because it is similar to the story of many recent graduates of our own school.  

Do you know anyone who has recently entered the military?  What has their experience been like?

Have you ever considered serving in the military yourself?  Has the war in Iraq and Afghanistan influenced your decision one way or another?

    I don't have any family members or friends enlisted into the military.I don't think that i would like to enlist into the military. No the Iraq or Afghanistan war has not changed my decision.

    i dont know anyone that has gone to iraq but i have considered goin myself. i feel that its good that we have people enlisting in the military but its getting to the point that we are getting to many troops that we dont know what to do to them.

    yes i have thought about joining the military but, if I tell people that i was interested in that they probably would laugh in my face, and think I couldn't do. but, i give all my heart to all those people that do serve over there. and give their lives for others. Maybe somedayy i'll join but right now I don't want to.

    I actually know two people who enlisted in the military. My two older brothers. Matt we thought would changes his ways but it never did his ego got big and he got kicked out for drugs. My other brother Evan is still enlisted and is leaving for Iran this March. It has changed him in so many good ways. And his wife is going at the same time too. Yes I have. Not really.

    Yes I have know many people who have been in the military, but none that have recently joined.

    Yes I have put very much thought into joining the military. As of right now my current goal in life is to be accepted to the United States Military Achedimy at West Point New York. Also I believe the Current conflicts in the middle east have played a role in shapeing my opinion about joining the military but it has not been a key factor.
