Does Tiger Woods Have a Right to Privacy?
In the continuing drama over his car accident last week, Tiger Woods released a statement on Wednesday apologizing to his family and supporters after a magazine article reported that he had carried on multiple affairs.
No matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.
But in the age of the Internet, when the media is not just traditional mainstream press or even the tabloids, but bloggers and twitterers, is a claim of privacy even possible? And is there a difference between a public figure and a well-known figure when it comes to privacy?
i think that everyone should have privicy and even though hes a celebrity and a idle for a bunch of people everyone make mistakes and he should deserve a second chance and some privacy for his family
ReplyDeleteI think that Tiger Woods should have privicay because it's his own business and no one wles need to meddle in it; and it is possible to have privicy whith all of the technology and tabloids. It does not matter who a person is or how famous they are, they should have a right to privicay. Why shouldn't they have the same rights as you or me?
ReplyDeleteI believe that there should be a limit to what the popular interent sites like facebook and twitter post about public figures. These people are having their personal lives exposed to anyone with access to a computer. They can't do anything without risking their perosnal privacy. Just because someone is a famous figure doesnt give people the right to know everying thing about their lives and what they do. This is something that may end up causing problems. For examply papers like the national enquior writing fake articles to defame peoples good name. It causes the people in the articles to loose respect from others that may read what is falsly written.

ReplyDeleteI think that tiger should have some privitice in his house, because hes just a normal person like you and I. his just famous and has a lot of money. But, snice his goinr through a lot right now. him and his family should work it out without any camera's are anything surround their house. trying to get photograghs taken. Give the give the guy some repspect, and give him privitce.
ReplyDeleteI think that if ur famous it will be hard to keep anything private. but i thinlk he has a right to it because everybody else thats not famous doesnt get televised on everything they do. Alot of things can be put on tv but i dont think really personal things should be allowes to be announced..DEET!
ReplyDeleteI personally think that Tiger Woods doesn't deserve any privacy. He refuses to talk to cops which makes things look bad on him and as a celebrity the non-privcay is a given. He should get over it.
ReplyDeleteI think that there is no difference between a celebrity and a regular person. A person is a person. Its a consitutional right to privacy. true he is a celebrity and has less of that right than the rest of us its still not right for people to say stuff about him when they dont even know if it is true. I think if someone wrote that the National Enquirer was a stupid paper and no one should read it people would get upset but if its a celebrity getting stuff said about it no one cares.
ReplyDeleteI believe that no matter how curious the public gets, Tiger Woods should be the only one able to say allowed to a publicy say what happened. If the public keeps making up stories and other false information, it could severely afflict Tiger's relationship with his wife.

Tiger woods is niether the less then just a normal person...of course he is famous but he doesnt deserve to be treated like this..
