Gauging Your Distraction

Recent studies show that drivers overestimate their ability to multitask behind the wheel.  Play this online game to measure how your reaction time is affected by external distractions.

Do you think there should be a law in Pennsylvania banning texting and/or talking on  a cell phone while driving?  Why or why not?

  1. I personally believe that there should be a law passes to outlaw texting while driving. This causes people to become distracted and it causes a hazzard for other drivers on the road. Personally as someone who has started to drive i dont want to be in a car wreck because someone was looking at their phone texting instead of watching the road. This is something that should be outlawed in every state in order to save thousands of lives.

  2. Yes becuase if you don't concentrate on the road and the enviornment and if you just concentrate on texting you will surely wreck and die.

  3. i think that people should be allowed to talk on there phone but not text but it would be hard to make a law like that so i think you should only talk no text

  4. i believe thatthere should be a law on texting in PA. Many people get in car accidents due to texting every year. I Think that there is no way that you can concentrate on driving if ur trying to text.i Can barely walk and text without hitting anything let alone drive. Playing that game opened my eyes up even more how hard it is to multitask while driving..DEET!

  5. Should their be a law against it? Who knows?
Texting for some people don't require much looking time to text. Like say your driving, do do do. You get a text you look then look up then start texting. People memorize the keys and don't worry about any problem. Either does talking. All you do is hold it to your ear and listen. It doesn't really impare your thinking or doing.

  7. Yes, I believe their should be a law to stop texting, but as far as talking on the phone. I do not believe their should be one to stop it as of right now. Texting and driving is a much greater risk than talking and driving.

  8. I think they should ban texting and or talking on the phone while driving. There has been more accidents now thanks to this. People seem to forget they are not invincble and are bound to mess up. The last thing you want on your mind though is texting causing a giant crash. But surviving while a few others died. I mean it would be hard to deal with if you had that on your mind just because you wanted to text and drive.

  9. i think that there should be a law that says you cannot text or talk on the phone while driving because it is dangerous and while playing that game i noticed how hard it is to text and drive at the same time to begin with and thats just a game i couldnt imagine actually doing that in real life. its too dangerous for people to be out on the road texting when there are millions of other people on the road.people who text and drive arent only risking their own lives their risking the lives of others and if they get caught driving and texting or talking on the phone then there should be some consequences.
