Haiti Relief Effort
Aid in response the earthquake in Haiti has begun pouring in from around the world. Unfortunately, as we have seen in other disasters such Hurricane Katrina, the aid cannot arrive fast enough.
Read this article. What types of relief supplies are on the ground but not getting to the people of Haiti? Why the delay?
like one of the supplys they need would be is anastiesa so they can do the surgies with out pain to save lives.
ReplyDeleteIts not that they dont have supplies the US has already donated over 355 million dollars to them. But they are in great need of baby formula, pain meds ect. But that is doing no good for them because they are sitting on the tarmac and in warehouses at the airport in Port-au-Prince. and with every after shock it leavs the supplies that they are in great need for takes more time.
ReplyDeletethe fact that they found all of these people alive is a good thing. some people have been under falling buildings for a while now and they somehow stayed alive. its a good thing that so many people want to help all of those people out. i hope they find more people alive
ReplyDeletethe people in Haiti, are not getting enough attentionfor getting their supplies such as medcine and food, and also water. A lot of childern and younger people are ding from the cause because of the lack of supplies that are being shiped in to Haiti. I think that more marines and doctors should go over and try to help them and work on rebulind the country.
ReplyDeleteThe supplies that are on the ground and not getting to the people of haiti are as follows aid -- baby formula, pain medication, antibiotics and other much-needed supplies.the reason for the delay is that the force are worried about the aftershocks and after one hit the eithier get smaller or bigger. After the aftershock cnn has said "Each new aftershock -- smaller earthquakes that follow a more powerful one -- slows down the relief effort even further." This affects the whole transport system. I think we should send some forces over with some supplies.my mom knows a lady from her work and she her cousin is in haiti but they are okay. they are thinking about trying to fly over to come be with her.
ReplyDeleteThe airports, and roads are causing the delay. The supplies of food, water, and medical supplies are not getting to the people who need them because of bottlenecks on the roads and runways.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the aids in helping haiti are a good help. I have heard of many things such as making a certain emblem on your xbox live account will send money to microsoft which they will then put forth to haiti's effort relief. i have also seen things that if you send a txt message to a certain number, it sends $10 of your cell phone bill, to a haiti relief company. I feel that the U.s is being very helpfull and we are doing a good job to help Haiti grow strong again
ReplyDeleteThe supplies that are not reaching the haitians are food, water, clothes, medication, and beds for them to lie down in. The delay is being caused by the lack of transportation and that they do not have enough supplies.
ReplyDeleteIn Haiti the situation is getting better, but as stated in the article. Some supplies that have been delivered to the capital of Port-au-Prince but have not been distributed, and are setting on the tarmac in the capitol. The delay seems to be the fear of aftershocks still to come after the original last week.
