What do you think about this article? Do you think prosthetics are fair? Is this a way to be fair to everyone who wants to compete or is it giving people an unfair advantage? Should these people be able to compete in competitive events like the Olympics? Why or why not

On one hand having an advantage over other runners isnt fair but on the other hand,its not really that persons fault that they lost their leg(s).I know that when my cousin lost her leg this summer,all she wanted was to be treated the same as before the accident.So if the runners cant run because they have high tech prothetic legs thats not treating them the same.so i think they should be allowed to run.
ReplyDeleteno i do not think that this is fair i think that there should be a seperate league for people that have a prostetic leg(s)from those that have regular legs.
ReplyDeleteyes i do think it isa fair. it is not that person's fault they the lost their legs or some other body part.. If someone is going to be so cold hearted and throw a reallt big fit because that person wants to compete with other people then that person really needs to grow up and face the facts that their are people in the world who have prombles like that and its truthfully not fair if you dont let them compete because if your the person who makes fun of somebody because they have that kind of promble thne you need to seriously just stop
ReplyDeleteI think that it is a very educational article.Yes I do think that it is fair because it is equal.I think it is fair because it give them the priveledge to be able to run again.Yes because it gives the people a chance to be able to run again instead of being in a chair for the rest of they're life.

ReplyDeletei do think prosthetics are fair because the person who lost the leg or two went through more than what you or i ever have. he should at least be able to run with people with legs. This is fair.
They should be able to compete in the Olympics because there a person just like you and I and if they are good enough to be in the Olympics then let them be in it.
I think this article is actually pretty interesting.It may be long but it has a good bit of interesting info in it. I agree 100% that prosthetics are fair. If your lose your legs and are able to pick yourself up and run in a 400 meter dash you should have everyone behind you cheering for you. I'm sure if these people had a choice they'd trade in their fake legs for real ones but seeing they cant they deal with the cards their dealt. People should be allowed to compete in the olympics because its a great accomplishment to say i lost my legs but im still a fast runner
ReplyDeleteI feel people with prosthetic limbs should not be able to compete with able bodied people. Sure I think that those people who have prosthetics should be allowed to compete but they should have their own competitions. It is in no way fair for athletes using artificial limbs that give them an advantage over the other competitors to be allowed to race with those who do not. I run competitively and if I lost a race simply because another runner got a speed boost from an artificial limb I would be very aggravated. I find running races fun and think those who have prosthetics should be allowed to compete with others but only if those other people have prosthetics.
ReplyDeleteThis article talks about people who have lost their legs and use prostetic legs to run with and weather or not they have an unfair advantage. Personaly i believe that this is fair because it's not the athletes fault that they do not have a regular leg. I think that this is a very fair way for everyone to compete because everyone should have the right to compete regardless of their situation.I believe that is is fair for these athletes to compete in the olympics because it is their right to have the ability to compete. It is not their fault that they have lost their leg.
